Whatcha Think?

I've been fiddling with my blog settings. I found that I could upload my very own picture as the background. I don't like that I can't figure out how to stretch it out and can only tile it because it has to be a certain compression. Boo!! No likey. Anyway, I LOVE this picture. It's a very small part of my back yard littered with   walnuts and pears as they start falling from the trees.

Life in the coop has been quiet. Well, as quiet as 2 boys, 2 cats and a yard full of chickies can be. The boys are on break this week. I'm really happy about that because I never see them anymore. I go to work before they get home from school and most nights they're in bed when I get home. It sucks, but at least I'm 10 minutes away and their dad is home with them every single night. Still working on how to get Mr. B. to get his homework done. He thinks it's mommy time, and won't let anyone else help him, so I'm giving him some extra cuddle time and attention this week.

Our RIR chickies just started laying itty bitty eggs. Chickies lay "practice" eggs at first, then as their bodies become accustomed to laying, they start turning out the full sized eggs. With six or so hens (in addition to our first flock that already lays 5 eggs a day) laying one egg each per day..... Hubby said his mom suggested we give eggs for Christmas gifts since we are about to have eggs coming out of our ears. I was actually hoping that we could sell those eggs to be able to buy gifts instead, but I guess if we have no takers then I know what she's getting, *wink, wink*.

But for now, it's a beautiful day, the kids are out of school, I have the day off and there's pears ready for pickin'. Guess what I'm about to get them geared up to do? Totally not even going to tell them. Just going to make them get dressed for outside and haul them out into the yard with a bucket. By the time we get to the tree and the little gears start turning, they'll be too far away from the front door to make a run for it.
